It makes a great holiday rental for friends or family who want a relaxed holiday by the sea, and to explore this unspoiled corner of north-west Sardinia. The shaded veranda at the front of the apartment looks out over the shared garden, to the Gulf of Asinara beyond. It is equipped for outdoor dining, so guests can enjoy meals al fresco, with panoramic sea views. A glass door leads from the veranda to the open-plan living room, which is furnished with a sofa, a TV and a dining table with chairs. The kitchenette is equipped with a cooker hob, oven, Mokka coffee machine and fridge/freezer. Location Sardinia’s north-western coast is less developed than the better-known Costa Smeralda but there is a lot to see and do close by. The apartment is in a peaceful area, but close to many of the amenities of Stintino and La Pelosa. There is a supermarket just 3 minutes away, and a range of restaurants for all budgets. For more self-catering options Stintino’s weekly market on Thursday morning, Piazza dei 45, (5 minutes drive) is a treasure trove of fresh local produce. Potential wild animals such as boar could be present in the area. There is a wide choice of spectacular beaches, with crystal clear sea, on the Stintino Peninsula. The most famous is La Pelosa (10 minutes). If you are looking for somewhere quieter, Spiaggia Punta Negra (2 minutes) might be a better option, but there are plenty of others to choose from. Asinara Island is a short boat trip from the Marina di Stintino (5 minutes drive). The island is a protected national park so visitors will need to arrange a tour with a registered operator. There are many beautiful hikes on the island, bicycle tours or horse riding treks, plus unspoilt beaches. It makes a wonderful day out. The fascinating city of Sassari (40 minutes) is one of the oldest cities on Sardinia. Its historic centre is home to many palaces and fine churches but it is less touristy than many other towns on the island. Alghero airport is 45 minutes away.
