It is furnished with a table and chairs for wonderful meals al fresco. Inside, the open-plan living/dining room has a contemporary sofa, another dining table and chairs, plus a flat-screen TV. There is a second balcony at the back of the apartment, which is furnished with sun loungers and chairs, so guests can relax in total privacy. Not to be missed is the city of Lecce (40 minutes drive), known as the “Florence of the South” and blessed with wonderful Baroque architecture as well as Roman ruins. It is a jewel of a city and well worth a visit. Not only for its long history but also for its excellent food and good shopping. Santa Cesarea Terme has a wide range of restaurants and pizzerie serving delicious local cuisine. For self-catering, the twice-weekly market in Lecce is a treasure trove of the finest regional produce from fish, vegetables and fruit to olive oil and cheese. Alternatively, visit the smaller weekly markets in the towns nearby.
