# Cardiff Bay Victorian House | Garden | Sleeps 5 > A Victorian bay-fronted house on the quiet side of Cardiff Bay — three bedrooms, a walled garden and a park across the road, a fifteen-minute walk to Mermaid Quay and the Wales Millennium Centre. A period living room with a tiled fireplace, a range-cooker kitchen, a family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, and a "cwtch" under the stairs with a pull-out bed. Sleeps five. Dogs welcome, free parking arranged, self check-in. The Cardiff Bay most visitors never see. Hunter Street is the Cardiff Bay most visitors never see: a terrace of red-brick and rendered Victorian houses with bay windows and arched porches, facing the open green of the park rather than another row of houses. Number 84 is the one with the pale blue door. It has been a much-loved family home, and it still feels like one — which is exactly why we took it on. Inside, the original tiled hallway leads to a front living room with a high ceiling, a wide bay window over the park and a Victorian cast-iron fireplace with its patterned tiles intact — a feature to enjoy rather than light, in a room finished in soft sage green with a large gilt mirror, a wall of books and a deep sofa for five. The middle room is for eating together: a solid wood dining table for six with two more seats in the kitchen if you need them, and tucked under the stairs a small blue sofa in the "cwtch" (the Welsh word for a hug, and for a snug corner) that pulls out into a bed for two. The kitchen at the back is the working heart of the house: a black range cooker with six gas burners and three ovens, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer, a Quest 15-bar espresso machine, a Nutribullet, an air fryer and a small breakfast table for two by the window. Everything you need to cook properly for the whole group is here — pots, pans, baking trays, wine glasses, crockery and cutlery for the full guest count. Through the back door is a private, walled patio garden — old stone walls, climbing greenery and a fenced boundary, with a bistro table and four chairs and two wooden deckchairs for the afternoon-to-evening sun. It is secluded, and very much part of the house. Upstairs, all three bedrooms and the bathroom sit on the first floor: • Bedroom 1 — double bed with a rattan peacock headboard, blush feature wall, dressing table that doubles as a desk, and a garden outlook • Bedroom 2 — small double bed with fitted wardrobes and storage, and a desk • Bedroom 3 — single bed with wall-mounted storage, a wall-mounted TV and a side table with a charging point • Cwtch — pull-out sofa bed for two under the stairs in the dining room • Family bathroom — full-size bath with an overhead shower, heated towel rail, Bluetooth mirror, hairdryer • Crisp hotel-style linen and towels, blackout blinds, hangers, extra pillows and a spare duvet The house is warm and simple to run: gas central heating with a combi boiler, uPVC double glazing, Sky broadband at around 150 Mbps throughout, a smart TV with all the usual apps, a Bluetooth speaker in the living room and a mirror in the bathroom that plays music too. There is a DVD player with a small library of films, books, playing cards and a roulette set for the evenings in. For guests coming to work, there are two desks upstairs and a relaxed working table in the cwtch, all with sockets to hand. Parking is free on-street under the residents' scheme. Send us your registration in advance and we register your vehicle with the council for the dates of your stay — simple, and no permit to collect. Dogs are welcome at Hunter Street. The garden is enclosed and the park is over the road, which makes it one of the easiest places in Cardiff to bring a dog. Please mention them at the time of booking.
