The Area
Lefkada sits in the Ionian Sea, joined to the Greek mainland by a short causeway so you simply drive across, no ferry needed. The dramatic western coast holds the island's most celebrated beaches, where pale cliffs meet startlingly blue water. Around the shoreline lie villages of real character: cosmopolitan Nidri, windswept Vassiliki, sheltered Sivota, picturesque Agios Nikitas and the lively waterfront of Lefkada Town. Inland the landscape turns green and mountainous, threaded with old footpaths and hill villages. Our luxury villas in Lefkada are positioned to suit every traveller, from families wanting easy beach access to groups seeking privacy and space, each supported by an attentive local concierge.
Where to Stay
Choice of base shapes the trip. Nidri and Nikiana on the east coast offer marinas, tavernas and ready boat departures, ideal for families who want amenities close by. Agios Nikitas is a romantic, car-light village near Kathisma and Mylos beaches. Vassiliki in the south draws watersports enthusiasts with its reliable afternoon winds, while Sivota's natural harbour suits those after quiet seclusion. Lefkada Town keeps you near restaurants, markets and the causeway for day trips. Spartochori, on neighbouring Meganisi, rewards travellers wanting genuine island calm. Across these areas our collection ranges from hillside villas with sweeping sea views to private retreats moments from the sand.
Things to Do
Beaches define Lefkada. Porto Katsiki, with its white cliffs and clear water, ranks among Greece's most photographed, while Egremni and Kathisma reward the journey. Watersports thrive here: Vassiliki and Agios Ioannis are prime windsurfing and kite-surfing spots, and diving clubs run courses for all levels. The mountainous interior offers signposted hiking and cycling routes to woods, waterfalls and old villages, including the Dimosari falls near Nidri. Boat days are essential, with trips calling at Fiskardo on Kefalonia and the green islets scattered offshore. Round out a stay with a visit to a local winery or the lighthouse at Cape Lefkata. Your concierge can arrange every excursion.
Dining and Nightlife
Lefkada's tavernas line the promenades of Lefkada Town, Vassiliki, Sivota, Nidri, Nikiana and Agios Nikitas, serving traditional dishes built on fresh local produce and the day's catch. Some of the finest tables sit above the western beaches, pairing simple Greek cooking with long sea views at Porto Katsiki, Egremni and Kathisma. After dark the island offers an easy, international mood: stylish bars with live music, lounges for a sunset drink and clubs with DJ sets, most concentrated around the coastal towns. The atmosphere stays relaxed rather than frenetic, suiting couples and groups alike. A villa kitchen and private terrace also make in-house dining, arranged by your concierge, a tempting alternative.
When to Visit
The season runs from late spring to early autumn. June and September bring warm seas, sunshine and noticeably fewer crowds, making them ideal for families and couples who prefer a calmer pace. July and August are the warmest and liveliest months, when festivals fill the calendar and the beaches and bars are at their busiest. August is also when Lefkada Town hosts its International Folklore Festival, while villages stage religious feasts and revived traditions such as the Karia wedding. Windsurfers favour the reliable summer afternoon winds at Vassiliki. Spring and early autumn suit walkers exploring the green, mountainous interior.
Getting There
Lefkada is among the easiest Greek islands to reach because it connects to the mainland by a causeway, so there is no ferry crossing. The nearest airport is Aktion, near Preveza, roughly twenty kilometres away and served by seasonal flights from across Europe. From there it is a short drive across the causeway to the island. Athens lies within a scenic drive for those combining Lefkada with a wider Greek itinerary, and neighbouring Ionian islands such as Kefalonia and Meganisi are reachable by boat. A hire car is recommended for exploring the west-coast beaches and inland villages. Your concierge can coordinate transfers and arrange car hire ahead of arrival.
