The coast answers back in equal measure. Šibenik's old town, a stone maze of steep lanes crowned by the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James, carved entirely from limestone and marble, is within a 20-minute drive, and the family-friendly Solaris beaches with their clear, shallow water lie just beyond, also around 20 minutes by car.
