BREATHTAKING MAJESTIC VILLA IN TUSCANY

Firenze, Italy

30 guests|1 bedroom|10 bathrooms

This Villa is a prestigious 14th-century property and was once the summer residence of the Ghirlandaio's, perhaps the best-known family of Renaissance artists. This enchanting home hosted the likes of Michelangelo, who studied the fine art of painting in the workshops here at that time. Botticelli, Raffaello, and Pontormo also graced the estate with their continual presence. Florence is an art-lovers paradise; it was the center of the Italian Renaissance movement, and the museums, galleries, palaces, and churches hold some of the world's greatest artistic treasures. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Piazza del Duomo is the largest building in Medieval Europe. Brunelleschi's Dome is a masterpiece of engineering and the largest brick dome in the world. The octagonal St. John's Baptistery is one of the oldest buildings in Florence and is a marvelous example of the wealthy Florentine Romanesque style. Giotto designed the Bell Tower next to the cathedral, and the climb up its 414 steps is well worth the effort for the astounding view from the top over Florence and the surrounding hills. The Uffizi, Bargello, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and the Accademia have to be seen. Once you tire of art and history, take a wander through the unforgettable streets and across the Ponte Vecchio bridge, which spans the River Arno. Florence is also home to designer shopping and fine wine and dining experiences. Thick, juicy Florentine steaks are a local specialty and best accompanied by a delicious, local Chianti wine. Any visit to Tuscany should include Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, and Siena, which are all an easy drive away. The prestigious 18-hole Golf dell'Ugolino is the oldest Golf club in Italy for golf lovers. It even features in Chris Santella's best-selling book, "Fifty places to play golf before you die." There is also a riding center nearby for spectacular horse-riding treks in the Chianti hills and a nearby tennis court. The Villa is only a couple of kilometers from the center of Florence. It is about an hour's drive from Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano, and Arezzo and less than half an hour from Florence international airport. Pisa and Bologna's international airports are about an hour's drive from the estate. The Property. this Villa can comfortably host up to 38 guests in 20 magnificent bedrooms on the estate. The bedrooms throughout the estate feature king-sized beds, luxurious bed-linen, stylish bathrooms in marble with either a rain shower or bathtub, a walk-in wardrobe, and a personal safe for important documents. The accommodation is located over five splendid buildings on the estate; the main Villa, the farmhouse, the gallery, the olive press, and the studio. Each of these buildings has been lovingly restored with quality antique furniture to create luxurious living areas in keeping with their original use. In addition, there is the famous, private chapel with a fresco by Ridolfo Ghirlandaio, the son of Domenico Ghirlandaio. The Main Villa. The majestic main Villa was where the Ghirlandaio family once lived and hosted elegant events during the 15th century. The main Villa holds pride of place on the estate and overlooks one of the swimming pools. It has a total of five double bedrooms with private bathrooms, including a panoramic, third-floor master bedroom, which takes up the whole of the top floor. The living areas are on the first floor and offer two sublime living rooms, a library/study space, a dining room for 12 people, and a large, modern kitchen with an adjoining pantry. The first of the five bedrooms are also on the first floor, and the second floor houses the three remaining double bedrooms. There is also a cellar and a helpful laundry room on the ground floor. The main Villa has a self-contained annex with a double bedroom, bathroom, and open-plan kitchen/living/dining room. The Farmhouse. As the name states, this beautiful old building was once the heart of the agricultural center of the estate. Today it offers four double bedrooms on the first floor and a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, and living room on the ground floor. There is also a unique reception room with a bathroom on the ground floor often used for wine and olive oil-tasting evenings. This wonderful exposition space was where the Ghirlandaio family exhibited their art and has now been converted into a delightful guest house. It features a double bedroom and twin bedroom, both with en suite bathrooms, a spacious living/dining area, a modern kitchen, and an extra bathroom on the first floor. The ground floor houses a professional kitchen, a living area, a bathroom, and an office with another private bathroom. The Olive Press. Today it offers two double bedrooms, a single room, two bathrooms on the first floor, and a delightful living room, dining room, kitchen, extra toilet, and laundry room on the ground floor. There is also an adjacent annex with a double bedroom and en suite bathroom. The studio. The studio was probably the most important building on the estate, for it was here that numerous painters practiced their art. The first floor has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, each with a private bathroom, and the top floor features a double bedroom and a single bedroom that share the same bathroom.
