The surrounding area is known for its limestone rock formations, caves, and underground rivers. Visitors can explore the Škocjan Caves (a 25-minute drive), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Postojna Cave (a 40-minute drive), famous for its stalactites and stalagmites or the nearby Strunjan Nature Reserve (a 15-minute drive), a popular destination for coastal walks.
